Surah Al-Buruj is the 85th chapter of the Qur'an. It was revealed in Makkah and contains 22 verses. The word Al-Buruj means “The Great Stars” or “The Constellations.” The surah begins with an oath by the sky full of constellations, emphasizing the greatness and power of Allah.

?? Main Theme
Constant faith in the face of persecution is the main theme of Surah Al-Buruj. It tells the powerful story of Ashab al-Ukhdood's People of the Ditch. These were believers who were tortured and burned in trenches of fire because they refused to give up their faith in Allah. Despite extreme ??? and oppression, they remained firm in their belief.
This story was told to the early Muslims in Makkah, who were being severely persecuted. It reminded them that suffering for faith has great reward, and injustice will never escape Allah’s judgment.
