What’s worked for me to reduce variability in care is finding a balance between protocols and flexibility. I stick to evidence-based guidelines to make sure care is consistent, but I also look at individual factors, like lifestyle or preferences, before finalizing treatment plans. For example, I’ve had two patients on the same pathway for diabetes, but one responded better to lifestyle coaching while the other needed medication adjustments. So, I planned my treatment accordingly. Technology helps too in tracking variability in healthcare. Dashboards track outcomes so I can catch when things go off course without losing the ability to personalize. That way, care stays predictable, but it still feels tailored to each person.
