What’s Changed / Being Phased Out
In Among Us Free Version deprecation: Starting early March 2025, any games still running a 2022 version (i.e. versions with “v2022”) will no longer be supported. Players are encouraged to update to the latest version (v2024.11.26 at the time of the roadmap release).
Main New Features & Improvements
Matchmaking Overhaul
The matchmaking system is getting a revamp to make it easier to find lobbies with settings you prefer before you join. Some specific improvements:
See settings like player speed, anonymous votes on/off, etc., before entering a match.
When using room codes, you'll be able to preview the lobby settings and the system may auto-adjust certain things like region or chat type if you have the needed permissions.
More Roles
The game already added roles like Noisemaker, Tracker, Phantom (bringing the total to 7). More are planned for 2025.
They’re testing about 12 role ideas with a goal of introducing 2-4 new roles this year.
Some of the roles in testing involve poison mechanics and possibly detective-style roles.
