This was another surprising question I had. I discovered that yes, fathers can also experience postpartum depression. While it’s more common in mothers, new dads may struggle with stress, mood changes, and depression after a baby is born. Learning this made me realize that both parents need emotional support during the postpartum period.Click here for more info

Yes, postpartum depression (PPD) can affect fathers too. While commonly linked to mothers, studies show up to 10% of new fathers experience PPD. In Pakistan, 23.5% of fathers reported depressive symptoms during this period. Symptoms in fathers may include irritability, fatigue, sleep changes, and difficulty bonding with their baby. Factors like sleep problems, financial stress, and lack of support contribute to paternal PPD. Recognizing and addressing it is vital for the father’s well-being and family health.
