Since ancient times, this text of Ayurveda has been attributed to the sage Kashyapa. It is held in the highest esteem as one of the most important texts in Ayurvedic pediatrics (Kaumarbhritya) and yet encompasses other areas such as gynecology, obstetrics, and even general medicine. The text is particularly famous for its elaborate descriptions of child care, prenatal and postnatal care, and treatment of diseases in children. Holistic well-being in the Kashyap Samhita includes nurture through diet, lifestyle, and other natural therapies. Written in Sanskrit, this text elucidates areas where health can be maintained and diseases cured through natural means.
