Interpreting the symbols and prophecies of Revelation has been a challenging task for theologians and scholars throughout history. There are several different approaches to understanding the book. Some interpret it as a literal prophecy of future events, particularly focusing on the end times and the return of Christ. Others view Revelation as an allegory, using its symbols to represent spiritual truths about the ongoing battle between good and evil. Some scholars also see the book as addressing the specific historical context of the early Christian community, particularly their persecution under the Roman Empire. Regardless of the approach, Revelation’s core message of God’s ultimate victory over evil remains consistent.
