The backrooms game game's objective is to escape while staying sane and avoiding danger. You start in a dark room with a flashlight. Some rooms have furniture, trash, or strange items. First, search the room for food and torch batteries. When ready, search the corridors for an exit. Buzzing lights and distant footfall fill the dark passageways. The Backrooms' layout changes, making exploration difficult. You can leave breadcrumbs or other marks to remember your travels. The Backrooms are occupied. "Lurkers" hunt anyone who enters their domain. Lurkers can be humans or horrifying beasts. Others are fast and aggressive, forcing you to hide or flee. The Backrooms require sanity. Your mental health will worsen as you stay. Hallucinations, distorted perception, and even more dangerous entities can result. Stay sane by finding light, resting, and not gazing at the Lurkers. You may meet other Backroom survivors on your trip. Some help, while others are hostile or crazy. Be cautious when interacting with survivors. Each Backroom level has its own challenges and threats. Solve puzzles, find keys, or conquer obstacles to exit each level. The Backrooms become more dangerous as you go deeper.
